Astros Minor League Recap: September 9th

Another day of minor league action is in the book. See the results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (54-83) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Bielak started for Sugar Land and allowed 1 run over 3 innings of work. He was relieved by Hansen who also allowed a run. Tamarez pitched in relief and went 4.2 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. The offense got a run in the 8th on a double play but that was it as they fell 2-1.

Note: Martinez has a 1.93 ERA in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (66-65) won 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks broke the game open in the second inning scoring 5 runs on a Stevens 2 run single, Brewer 2 run single and Corona RBI groundout. Macuare got the start and allowed 2 runs over 4 innings. He was relieved by Taveras who allowed one unearned run over 4 innings. The Hooks got 2 more runs in the 6th on a Brewer 2 run HR. VanWey closed it out with a scoreless 9th inning to seal the win.

Note: Melton has 44 SB this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (50-76) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for Asheville and allowed 1 run over 4 innings while striking out 7. The offense got on the board with a 2 run single from Sacco in the 4th inning. In the 6th, Sacco added another 2 run single to make it 4-1. After a scoreless inning from De Paula, Miley closed it out with 4 scoreless as Asheville won 4-1.

Note: Rodriguez has 87 K in 63.1 innings this season.
