Astros Minor League Recap: April 28th

Another day of minor league action is in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (8-16) lost 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

The offense got on the board early scoring 2 runs in the first on a Matijevic RBI single and Perez RBI double. They got another run in the 4th on an Adolph solo HR. France started for Sugar Land and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned over 4.2 innings. Paredes struggled in relief allowing 4 runs win the 7th and 8th inning as the Aces took the lead. The offense was unable to respond and the Space Cowboys fell 6-3.

Note: France has a 2.33 ERA and 26 K in 19.1 innings.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (7-11) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the first inning on a Loperfido RBI single as he continued his hot hitting. Gordon allowed 2 runs in the first but went on to strike out 10 over 5 innings while allowing just 2 runs. The Hooks took the lead in the 4th on a Stubbs 2 run HR. Stubbs added another HR in the 9th to make it 4-2. Cobos allowed 1 run in the 9th but was able to hold on to pick up the save.

Note: Corona has a .993 OPS in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (7-10) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Tourists’ lone run came on a Dezenzo sac fly in the first inning. Santos started for Asheville and allowed 1 unearned run over 3.2 innings. Salgado allowed 3 runs in relief and Ullola tossed 3 scoreless innings but the offense was unable to get anything else going as they fell 4-1.

Note: Denzenzo is hitting .367 this season.

  • Bryant Salgado, RHP: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
  • Miguel Ullola, RHP: 3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (8-10) lost 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski got the start and despite striking out 8, he allowed 6 runs, 5 earned, over 4 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 7th on RBI doubles from Balogh, Molina and Clifford. DeVos tossed 4 scoreless innings but the offense wasn’t able to complete the comeback as they fell 7-3.

Note: DeVos has a 3.07 ERA with 23 K in 14.2 innings this season.
