Another week of baseball is in the books. Let’s look at some news and notes. I will start with a few players who have been hot in the Astros system!

Who’s hot?

Enmanuel Valdez – Valdez is following up a really good 2021 season with an even better 2022 campaign. The left hitter had another great week hitting .370 with 3 2B, 3 HR, 8 RBI in 6 games. He has been the best offensive player in the system this year hitting .339 and leading the system in RBI with 29 in 33 games.

Justin Dirden – Dirden was a relative unknown going into the 2021 season but he put himself on the map posting a .934 OPS with 15 HR last season. He is now on the list again posting another good week where he hit .360 with 3 HR, 12 RBI. On the season he has a .936 OPS and leads the system in doubles with 15. Read more here.

J.C. Correa – Correa is also a repeat on the “who’s hot” list this week. After hitting .474 last week, he followed that up with a .368 average (7-for-19) with a homer and 6 RBI. Over the last two weeks he has brought his BA up rom .215 to .282 and OPS from .620 to .750.

Kenedy Corona – Corona came over in the Marisnick trade to the Mets. The right hander had a monster week hitting .400 with 2 3B, 3 HR, 8 RBI in just 5 games for the Woodpeckers. He is trending in the right direction right now with the power and the patience at the plate.
