Astros Minor League Recap: September 19th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (69-49) lost 8-6 (BOX SCORE)

Brown started for Sugar Land and struggled a bit allowing 3 runs in 3 innings. Mushinski relieved Brown and allowed 4 runs, 1 earned, over his 3 innings of work. The Skeeters got 4 runs back in the 6th on a Hinojosa RBI single, Costes 2 run single, and Jones RBI double. After the Isotopes got a run in the 7th, the Skeeters got 2 more back in the 8th on another Hinojosa RBI single and Jones RBI groundout. The Skeeters would load the bases in the 9th but failed to scores as they lost 8-6.

Note: Hinojosa is hitting .318 with .837 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (54-65) won 9-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks jumped out to a huge lead early scoring 6 runs in the 1st inning on a Schreiber RBI double, Hensley 3 run HR, McKenna RBI double and Adolph RBI triple. In the 2nd they scored 3 more runs on a Valdez RBI single and Berryhill 2 run single. Endersby got the start and struck out 3 over 3 scoreless innings. This one turned into a bullpen game and the pen was great tossing 6 innings and allowing just 1 unearned run as they won the finale 6-1.

Note: Berryhill hit .295 with .974 OPS this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (54-62) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Tamarez started for the Tourists and went 3 innings allowing just 1 run. Guerrero put the offense on the board in the 4th with a 2 run HR. They got another in the 7th on a Correa RBI double and one more in the 8th on a Santana solo HR. Gaither tossed 2.2 scoreless in relief and Ford closed it out inn the 9th, despite allowing a run, as the Tourists won 4-3.

Note: Correa finishes the season hitting .310 with .833 OPS.

  • Misael Tamarez, RHP: 3.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
  • Danny Cody, RHP: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
  • Ray Gaither, RHP: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K (WIN)
  • Derek West, RHP: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K (SAVE)

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (55-64) lost 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

McDermott got the start and went 2 innings allowing 2 runs. He was relieved by Calderon who tossed 2 scoreless. The Woodpeckers picked up their first run in the 3rd on a Palma sac fly. Rodriguez tied it up in the 6th with an RBI single. The Mudcats scored a run in the 8th and two in the 9th as they took the lead and eventually won the season finale 5-2.

Note: Palma hit .308 in 15 games for the Woodpeckers.
