Astros Minor League Recap: July 6th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (31-22) won 11-9 (BOX SCORE)

De La Cruz continued his hot hitting crushing a 2 run HR in the first for the Skeeters. De La Cruz then added an RBI single in the 3rd to go up 3-0. In the 5th inning, Sierra added a solo HR and Hinojosa had a 2 run HR to extend the Skeeters lead. Solomon started and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs. The Express made a comeback scoring 6 in the bottom of the 8th to take a 9-7 lead. The Skeeters rallied through scoring 4 runs in the 9th with a run scoring on a passed ball, a Hinojosa 2 run double, and a Siri sac fly. Scheetz closed it out with a scoreless 9th.

Note: De La Cruz is hitting .520 with 4 HR, 11 RBI in July.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (25-30) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Endersby started for the Hooks and went 4 innings allowing 5 runs with 5 strikeouts. The Hooks got one run in the first on a Hensley RBI double. In the 2nd, Leon connected on a 3 run HR, his 8th of the season. Tejada relieved Endersby and allowed 1 run in 2 innings of work. Lawson went 3 innings in relief and allowed 1 run. In the 8th, the Hooks picked up a run on a Manea RBI single to make it 7-5. In the 9th inning the Hooks put two on for Gonzalez but the rain started coming down and the game was called so the Hooks lost 7-5.

Note: Leon has a .786 OPS with 8 HR this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (24-30) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Freure got the start and allowed 3 runs over 5 innings while striking out 8. The Tourists got on the board in the second inning scoring 2 runs on a Nova RBI single and Carrasco RBI groundout. In the 7th they scored 2 runs on Whitcomb and Abreu RBI singles. Moclair allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th as the Grasshoppers retook the lead. Biermann tied the game in the 9th with a solo HR but Casey allowed a walk-off 2 run HR as the Tourists lost 7-5.

Note: Freure has 44 K in 32.1 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (22-32) lost 9-7 (BOX SCORE)

Barry started for the Woodpeckers and got roughed up allowed 5 runs in 3 innings. The offense got things going in the first though scoring 2 runs on a Correa RBI triple and Rodriguez sac fly. Garcia allowed 2 runs as the Wood Ducks took a 7-2 lead. The Woodpeckers responded though scoring 5 runs in 5th scoring 2 on an error and 3 on a Ramirez RBI triple. Plumlee went the last 4.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense was unable to respond as they lost this one 9-7.

Note: Brewer has a .730 OPS with 10 SB this season.
