Astros Minor League Recap: June 20th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (24-15) won 24-15 (BOX SCORE)

The Skeeters got rolling early getting 2 run homers in the first from Meyers and De La Cruz. They got 2 more runs in the third on a Matijevic 2 run double. They picked up 4 more runs in the 4th on a Hinojosa RBI single and a Siri 3 run HR. In the 5th, they got an RBI triple from Sierra and a 2 run HR from Meyers. Solomon got the start and allowed 6 runs over 4 innings. Scheetz and Rodriguez both allowed 3 runs in relief but the offense kept scoring. They picked up 3 more in the 7th in a Siri bases loaded walk and Papierski 2 run single. In the 8th they got a Meyers RBI double and Hinojosa RBI single. They capped off the night getting 6 runs in the 9th on a De La Cruz solo HR, Sierra sac fly, De Goti 3 run HR, and Meyers solo shot as they set a franchise record in runs.

Note: Meyers is hitting .304 with 12 HR this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (18-23) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Mushinski started and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs. He was relieved by Lawson who went 3.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The offense was quiet for the night. They picked up their first run in the 8th on a Taylor RBI groundout. Hernandez tossed a scoreless 9th to keep it at a 4-1 game. The Hooks put 2 on in the 9th but failed to score as they dropped this game 4-1.

Note: Hernandez has a 2.84 ERA with 27 K in 19 innings.


A+: Asheville Tourists (18-23) won 19-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Tourists lost two nights ago 19-4 but they turned it around yesterday and won 19-4. They got on the board in the first with a Salazar solo HR and Valdez sac fly. In the second inning they got 2 more runs on a Carrasco 2 run HR. They scored 3 more in the 3rd on a Valdez 2 run HR and Stubbs solo HR. In the 5th, they got 4 more on a Perez solo HR and Abreu 3 run HR. Rivera started and tossed 2 scoreless innings. Horrell also had a scoreless outings. The offense continued stacking the runs getting a 2 run HR in the 6th from Schreiber. They would add 5 more in the 7th on a Perez 2 run double, Schreiber RBI groundout, and Valdez 2 run HR. Lopez closed it out with 3 scoreless innings.

Note: Schreiber is hitting .317 with 10 HR, 27 RBI this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (15-25) POSTPONED
