Astros Minor League Recap: June 6th, 2017

Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (27-32) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

Mike Hauschild got the start last night and pitched great again going 6 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. He hasn’t allowed mroe than 2 runs in any of his last five outings. The game was scoreless until the 5th inning when Preston Tucker connected on a 3 run HR, his 11th HR of the season. This also gave him 42 RBI in 52 games. Fresno added another run in the 6th on a Moran solo HR, his 9th of the season. Moran has 9 HR in 170 at bats this year. He had just 10 HR in 459 at bats last year.

Perez tossed a scoreless 7th handing the ball over to McCurry. McCurry allowed 2 runs in the 8th but tossed a scoreless 9th to close it out. Reed added some more insurance with a solo HR in the 9th inning to make it 5-2. It was his 8th HR of the season. He has had a slow start so far but still has an OPS near .800. Fisher stayed hot with a double, two walks, and a stolen base.

Note: Fisher is hitting .447 over his last 10 games.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (29-28) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Kent Emanuel was on the mound for the Hooks last night and pitched great. He allowed an unearned run in the first inning but was great after that finishing with 6 inning, 0 earned runs, and 7 strikeouts. The Hooks got on the board in a big way scoring 4 runs in the 2nd inning on a Laureano 2 run double, Martin RBI double, and another run scoring on an error.

Corpus added another run in the 5th when Kyle Tucker singled and came around to score on a Garrett Stubbs sac fly. Riley Ferrell relieved Emanuel and tossed 2 scoreless innings, an encouraging sign from the right hander. Thome pitched a scoreless 9th to keep it at 5-1 and seal the win for the Hooks.

Note: Tucker has hit safely in all seven Double-A games.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (32-27) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss for Buies Creek as the offense struggled to get anything going. Ryan Hartman got the start and pitched pretty well allowing just 2 runs over 6 innings, both runs coming in the 4th inning. On offense they only managed 3 hits, 2 of which were doubles by Straw and Rogers. Andrew Walter and Nick Hernandez had scoreless outings in relief but the offense was unable to scratch across any runs.

Note: Straw has 35 BB/37 K with 13 SB in 52 games
