Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (47-43) lost 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

Shirley was on the mound for Fresno and it did not go well giving up 6 runs in 5 innings. Fresno got on the board in the 2nd inning on a White solo HR, his 8th HR in AAA. Fresno got two more in the 6th on a 2 run single from Stassi. An RBI single from Tucker in the 7th made it a 6-4 game. Unfortunately McCurry gave up 3 runs in the 7th to put it out of reach.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (58-33) lost 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

Frustrating loss as Corpus out hit Frisco 10-8. Grills got the start and had a rough go of it giving up 6 runs in 5 innings of work. Corpus was able to pick up hits but unfortunately only two of them were for extra bases. Their lone run came on a solo HR from Pena in the 7th inning. On the bright side, Smith tossed 4 scoreless innings in relief.

Great night for the offense. Laureano got the scoring going with a 2 run HR in the first inning, his 3rd consecutive game with a HR. In the 2nd inning Boyd added an RBI single to extend the lead. They got 3 more runs in the 3rd inning on an RBI single from Woodward, Ritchie RBI single, and a Ballard RBI groundout. Woodward added another RBI single in the 4th and Ritchie followed with a 2 run double. Laureano hit another HR, his 2nd of the game and 10th of the year, in the 6th inning. Boyd added an RBI triple in the 7th and scored on a wild pitch to cap the scoring at 13. Deetz got the start and while he gave up 7 runs (5 earned), he struck out 6 over his 5 innings. Thome tossed 2 scorless innings in relief and Sanudo closed it allowing 1 run over the final 2 innings.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (43-48) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Pitching dominated this one. Perez got the start for the River Bandits and was very good allowing just 1 run with 7 strikeouts over his five innings. Quad Cities only managed 3 hits but it was all they needed. They got on the board in the first with an RBI groundout from Roa. Trompiz added a sac fly in the 3rd for the 2nd and final run. Abreu came into relieve Perez and was even better. He tossed four scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit, no runs, and 5 strikeouts.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (15-13) won 10-2 (BOX SCORE

Nice win for Tri-City. They got the scoring started early with 3 runs in the 1st thanks to a Birk solo HR and a 2 run double from Dawson. Hill got the start and went 4 innings without allowing a run. Tri-City added to their lead in the 5th inning with a 2 run single from Rogers. They would add another 4 runs in the 6th on a Birk RBI single, Benedetti RBI single, Cesar RBI triple, and a Dawson RBI groundout. Nicely relieved Hill and gave up 2 runs over 4 innings. 20 year old, Santos, came on to close it with a scoreless 9th.
