Houston Astros Minor League Recap: July 11th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (46-42) OFF

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (57-31) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Yuhl got the start for the Hooks and once again was impressive. He finished allowing just 1 run in 5 innings of work. Corpus opened up a lead early with 3 runs in the 2nd inning thanks to an RBI single from Gregor, RBI single from Garcia, and a sac fly from Pena. Corpus added another run in the 6th on an RBI double from Gregor. In the 8th Fisher doubled, stole third, and scored on a Tanielu groundout. Minnis tossed 3 perfect innings in with relief and Cotton closed the game with a scoreless 9th.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (46-42) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

Another good night for the offense in this one. Lancaster fell behind early with Inland Empire scoring two runs off starter Dykxhoorn in the 3rd inning. Dykxhoorn ended up going 5.2 innings allowing 4 earned runs. Lancaster responded in a big way with a 6 run 5th inning. In that inning they got a 2 run single from Boyd, RBI double from Sewald, RBI triple from Laureano, and a Woodward 2 run HR. They would add two more with RBI singles fromBoyd and Laureano. Sanudo and Comer had scoreless outing in relief and Deemes struck out the side in the 9th to seal with W.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (41-47) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

The pitching the last few weeks has been great for Quad Cities and last night was no different. Jose Hernandez was on the mound for the River Bandits and went 7 innings allowing just 1 hit, 1 unearned run, and 6 strikeouts. Quad Cities got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Roa RBI single and a McCall RBI single. They added another run in the on a Correa RBI single. Duarte would cap off the scoring with a solo HR in the 6th, his 3rd HR of the season. The four runs was more than enough. Garza relieved Hernandez and closed the game with 2 scoreless innings.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (13-11) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE

Late 9th inning rally wins it for Tri-City. Hunt started the game and gave up 3 runs over 3.1 innings. He was relieved by Hartman who was tremendous. Hartman went 3.2 innings allowing no runs, no walks, and 7 strikeouts. Tri-City got their scoring started in the 5th with 2 runs on a 2 run double from Birk. In the 7th, Birk tied the game with an RBI single. The ValleyCats would enter the 9th down 4-3. They rallied for 3 runs thanks to a run scoring on a wild pitch and a 2 run single from Cesar. Hernandez gave up a run but picked up his 2nd save of the season.

ROOKIE: Greeneville Astros (8-11) won 12-4 (BOX SCORE)
