Astros Minor League Recap: July 15th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (34-26) lost 8-5 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez got the start and struggled allowing 5 runs over 2.2 innings. He was relieved by Martinez who allowed 3 runs over his 2.1 innings of work. The Skeeters got their first run in the 2nd inning on a Sir RBI double. In the 6th inning, De La Cruz connected on a 2 run HR. Dawson added an RBI single in the 7th and De Goti added one in the 8th. Scheetz, Garza, and Kelly all had scoreless outings but the Skeeters were unable to completely the comeback.

Note: Siri is hitting .349 with 5 2B, 3 HR in July.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (27-36) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Leon put the Hooks on the board in the 3rd with a solo HR. After the Missions took the lead in the top of the 4th, the Hooks responded with 4 runs on a Lee 2 run HR, Schreiber RBI double, and Leon RBI single. Daniels started for the Hooks and went 5 innings allowing 3 runs. He was relieved by DeJuneas went 2 innings and left with a couple guys on. Conn came in and allowed both inherited runners two score and 2 more. The Hooks were unable to comeback as they fell 7-5.

Note: Leon is hitting .344 with 3 HR, 10 RBI in July.


A+: Asheville Tourists (27-35) lost 13-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rough game for the Tourists. Cody got the start and was solid allowing 2 runs over 5 innings of work. He was relieved by Casey who allowed 5 runs over 2 innings. Next up was Ceballos who allowed 4 runs in his 1 inning. Position player pitching, Arias got the 9th and allowed 2 runs. The offense struggled though collecting just 4 hits and no runs on the night as they fell 13-0.

Note: Nova is hitting .333 with 5 2B, 2 HR in July.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (26-35) lost 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Gomez started and went 4 innings allowing 4 runs. Corona got the scoring started with an RBI single in the 2nd. In the 3rd, the Woodpeckers picked up 4 runs on Brewer and Perry RBI doubles and a Daniels 2 runs HR. They got 3 more in the 4th on a Berryhill RBI double and Brewer 2 run double. Baez made a rehab appearance tossing a scoreless inning in relief. In the top of the 8th, Correa connected on a solo HR, his 5th of the season. Robaina closed it out with 4 scoreless innings.

Note: Perry is hitting .314 with 4 2B, 3 HR over his last 10 games.
