Houston Astros Minor League Recap: July16th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (47-44) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)
Fresno ran into a tough starter last night. Hauschild has been great this season but New Orleans got to him a bit last night. He gave up 8 hits and 4 runs, 3 earned, over his 6 innings of work. Fresno was scoreless until the 7th inning when Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo HR, his 3rd HR in AAA. They only managed three other hits on the night, and all were singles. On a positive note, Fields struck out 2 in a scoreless 8th inning.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (58-34) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)
Bullpen can’t hold the lead late for the Hooks. Frias got the start and was very good giving up just 1 run over 6 innings of work. Corpus got on the board in the 3rd inning with a 2 run double from Fontana. Tanielu would add to their lead in the 6th with an RBI single. Corpus entered the 8th up 3-1 but Minnis and West gave up 4 runs to lose the lead. Corpus was able to get 1 run to make it closer but came up just short in the 5-4 loss.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (51-42) won 7-4 (BOX SCORE)
Lancaster rallied in the 9th for the win. Bostick got the start in this one and was very good once again. He went 6 innings allowing 2 runs, 0 earned, with 4 strikeouts. Lancaster got on the board early with a Boyd triple and a Sewald sac fly in the first. Martin added an RBI single in the 4th and Ferguson added a sac fly in the 5th. Lancaster entered the 8th up 3-2 but Rancho Cucamonga was able to rally for 2 runs to take the lead. In the top of the 9th with two outs, Laureano hit a 2 run pinch hit double to take the lead. They got two more runs on a Nunez RBI single and Ferguson RBI double. Dorris pitched a scoreless bottom of the 9th to pick up the save.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (44-49)
GAME 1 – lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)
Solid game on the pitching side but the bats couldn’t get going. Elieser Hernandez started game 1 and went 5 innings allowing 1 run with 5 strikeouts. Quad Cities tied the game in the 5th on a Straw RBI single. The game would stay tied at 1 until the bottom of the 8th when Lake County won it on a walk-off.

GAME 2 – won 2-0 (BOX SCORE)
Well pitched game for Quad Cities. Jose Hernandez got the start and was flat out dominant striking out 13 over 6 scoreless innings. Quad Cities got on the board in the 3rd inning on a single by Duarte and a sac fly from Tucker. Schmidt picked up the save with a scoreless 7th inning.

Tough loss losing this one in the 9th. Hartman got the start and pitched well allowing just 1 run over 4 innings of work. Robinson got the scoring started for Tri-City with an RBI double in the 2nd inning. DeGoti followed with an RBI single to give the ValleyCats a 2-1 lead. DeGoti later added a sac fly to extend the lead to 3-1. The game stayed 3-1 until the 9th when, unfortunately, Stutzman got roughed up for 3 runs and Tri-City lost 4-3.
