Houston Astros Minor League Recap: June 27th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (37-39) lost 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss late for Fresno. Peacock got the start and gave up 2 runs over 3 innings but through 88 pitches. Fresno got on the board in the 2nd with a solo HR from Colin Moran, his 5th HR of the season. They tied the game in the third with Aplin scoring on a groundout. The game would stay scoreless until the 8th but Chapman gave up 3 runs and Fresno was unable to mount a comeback.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (51-25) OFF

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (36-38) won 10-3 (BOX SCORE)

Lancaster got the scoring started early in this one wit a solo HR from Laureano in the first inning, his 6th HR of the season. They added two more in the 2nd on a sac fly from Marlow and an RBI single from Boyd. Armenteros got the start and pitched well going 5.2 innings and giving up 2 runs, which were both unearned. His ERA dropped down to 2.72. Marlow added an RBI single in the 4th to extend the lead. In the 6th they scored again with sac flies from Stubbs and Laureano. Ballard added a 2 run single in the 7th to cap off the scoring. Dorris finished the game tossing 3.1 innings and allowing 1 run.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (33-41) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities got on the board with 2 runs in the first thanks to a 2 run double from McCall. They would add to that lead with an RBI single from Michelena in the 5th and another run in the 6th on an RBI double from Goedert. Abreu got the start and was fantastic going five shutout innings with 6 strikeouts. Perez relieved and while he gave up four wins, he was still able to pick up the save and seal the win for the River Bandits.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (5-6) won 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

Nice win for the ValleyCats. Tri-City scored early and often in this one. In the 2nd inning they got on the board on a Birk RBI groundout. They scored two more in the 3rd on a Benedetti RBI single and Cesar RBI double. Cameron hit a 2 run HR in the 4th, his first professional HR. Tri-City would get one more in the 5th on a Birk RBI single and one in the 6th on a Cameron RBI triple. Chavez got the start and allowed 3 runs, just 1 earned, over 4.1 innings. Perez relieved him and tossed 4.2 scoreless innings. The ValleyCats would get 1 more run in the 9th on a Benedetti solo HR.

ROOKIE: Greeneville Astros (1-4) lost 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

ROOKIE:

GAME 1: GCL Astros (2-1) won 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

GAME 2: GCL Astros (2-2) lost 10-3 (BOX SCORE)
